John is an internationally accredited substance use disorder professional with over 10 years of experience in addiction treatment and mental health counselling. He worked at The Dawn from 2022 to 2024.
During his time at The Dawn, he contributed to the blog as a substance use disorder therapist, bringing extensive expertise in clinical programme development and therapeutic care. With a background spanning both educational and clinical settings, John developed comprehensive treatment methodologies while maintaining active involvement in public education through lectures, seminars and media appearances.

Alexandria is an internationally accredited addiction treatment professional with certification from ICARC and over 15 years of experience across treatment centres in South Africa, the UK and Thailand. She worked at The Dawn from 2021 to 2026.
During her time at The Dawn, she contributed to the blog as a senior therapist, bringing comprehensive expertise in addiction and mental health counselling. Having progressed from her early career at Thiraya in Cape Town to senior positions at Castle Craig in Scotland, Alexandria has demonstrated consistent growth in clinical leadership and programme development, and she combines extensive therapeutic experience with an MBA.

Alan worked across the full spectrum of addiction treatment for almost two decades, from detox units to primary care, secondary care and aftercare. He worked at The Dawn from 2024 to 2026.
During his time at The Dawn, he contributed to the blog as a certified addiction recovery specialist, and his comprehensive experience shaped a holistic approach focused on giving each client the right support at the right time. Alan holds a Master’s Degree in Counselling and Psychotherapy Practice from Bath Spa University and a First Class BSc Honours in Addictions Counselling from Bath University, and he is a member of the Federation of Drug and Alcohol Professionals.
